About Me

Dave J Mason

Drummer & Entrepreneur

I am first and foremost a drummer with a passion for both performing and teaching. Performing since 2003 and teaching full time since 2008, I draw much of my inspiration and techniques from some of my past UK mentors as Mal Garrett and Andy Edwards.

My performing credits include Midas, a charting indie/electro band that parted ways in 2008, my current funk/hiphop outfit Cantaloop and most notably Mr Hudson.

In 2008 I collaborated with my mentor Andy to set up what is now one of Birmingham’s most prolific drum schools; the Midland Academy of Drumming. We accomplished this with no loans or debts and 3 years later in 2011 it was making me quite a comfortable living.

In this year, I invested a large portion of my teaching income to set up my second project, the Drummer’s Database; a social network designed to unite drummers and drum businesses worldwide.

I am now also involved in a number of other projects including session drumming, Drummers 4 fsid (a charity project), DrumCovers.tv and other early developments.
